UVA women’s tennis wins Princeton, advances to the NCAA Super Regional

Virginia’s No. 5 Women’s Tennis beat Princeton 4-0 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Super Regional at the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships Sunday afternoon at Boar’s Head Sports Club.

The Ivy League Champion Tigers gave the Cavaliers everything they could handle in the doubles game. UVA team Elaine Chervinsky and Natasha Subhash defeated Daria Frayman and Nathalie Rodilosso of Princeton 6-3. On Field 3, Sofia Munera and Amber O’Dell overcame Zoe Howard and Nehu Velagu with a 7-5 win and scored a point in doubles for Virginia. Munera and O’Dell’s win was critical as the first-field match between UVA’s Emma Navarro and Hibah Shaikh and Grace Joyce and Maie Sung of Princeton was tied at 5-5 when the game was called off.
