COUNCIL BLUFFS – The Iowa Central Athletics Team secured two silver medals here Sunday at the XI Region Championships.
Iowa Western won the men’s and women’s team titles, and the Tritons took second place.
Britney Brown won 400, finishing 55.10, and Yared Kidane continued his strong spring by winning gold at 1500 for 3: 49.92 and silver at 800.
Hunter Klimek led 1-2 at Steeplechase for the Tritons, winning 9: 21.86 with teammate Robin Aguilar Gonzalez right behind him.
Aspel Kiprob won first in 10,000 for 32: 42.83 and first in 5,000 for 14: 32.29, and James MacKey Jr. he won the discus with a throw of 53.32 m. MacKey was second in the shot put and also third in the hammer throw.
Nyadhol Tihichiot crossed 11.79 m to first place in the triple jump.
Jade Durfey (2.15m) and Aries Scott (3.30m) won the pole vault, and Collins was second behind Scott. Collins was also third in the high jump.
Iowa Central also won both 4 × 800 relays, and Scott was first in the decathlon and Camron Ventura was third.
Chloe Garcia Grafing took second place at 1,500, and Taylor McCreedy was runner-up at Steeplechase. Josie Stackis took third place in the same discipline and Emma Seidl was second in the shot put.
Adeyah Brewster and Terry McNeill Jr. they occupied one in three per 100 hurdles. McCreedy was third at 800 and Brown added third at 200.
The NJCAA Athletics Championships is scheduled for 19-21. May in Hutchinson, Can.
