Trinity senior was named the winner of the 2022 Congressional Art Competition

Leah Ross, a graduate of Trinity Christian School, is the winner of the Congressional Art Competition for the Third District in 2022, sponsored by U.S. Congressman Drew Ferguson (R-Ga).

Ross’ artwork entitled “Shattered Emotions” will be sent to Washington, DC and exhibited at the US Capitol for a year.

Megan Grabhorn from McIntosh High School won second place with her work entitled “Madonna’s Angel”. Third place went to Hayden Bunn, a student at Starr’s Mill High School, with his submission entitled “That Guy.” Bunn’s piece also won the People’s Choice Award.

Ross will receive a $ 12,000 scholarship, a return visit to Washington, DC, and her artwork will be on display at the U.S. Capitol for a year. Grabhorn will receive a $ 7,500 scholarship and Bunn a $ 3,500 scholarship.

Scholarships are sponsored by and for use at the Art Institute of Atlanta. The top-ranked winner of the People’s Choice will hang his artwork in Congressman Ferguson’s Newnan County Office for a year.

“The talent at the Congressional Art Competition is getting better and better every year,” Ferguson said. “It’s really proof of how impressive young Georgians are and what an impact our amazing artistic community has on our students. I want to thank all the wonderful artists who participated in this year’s competition and big congratulations to Leah Ross for this year’s grand prize. The winning piece, ‘Shattered Emotions’, is a great example of the kind of skill this competition is designed to highlight. I look forward to seeing her artwork in the halls of the American Capitol as a reminder of the power of art to transform lives and strengthen communities. ”

This year’s competition is sponsored by Carroll EMC, Central Georgia EMC, Coweta-Fayette EMC, Diverse Power, GreyStone Power, Snapping Shoals EMC, Southern Rivers Energy, Upson EMC, Georgia Transmission Corporation, Oglethorpe Power Corporation and the Art Institute of Atlanta.
