The Xbox will bring Game Pass streaming to TVs ‘next year’, it is claimed

Microsoft will finally bring Xbox Game Pass streaming directly to TVs and standalone devices next year, it is claimed.

This is according to a new report by GamesBeat, which claims that in the next 12 months Microsoft plans to release an Xbox streaming device similar to Amazon Fire Stick or similar to Roko.

In addition, Microsoft is planning a Samsung TV app that will allow users to stream cloud games directly to their TVs without any additional device, it is claimed.

The launches are said to be part of the new “Xbox Everywhere” initiative, which experienced its first free title at Fortnite this week.

Last summer, Microsoft first confirmed plans to bring the Xbox cloud game to Internet-connected TVs. Speaking in June 2021, the company said it is working with global TV makers to embed the Xbox experience directly into internet-connected TVs and build its own streaming devices.

“The cloud is key to our hardware and Game Pass plans, but no one should think we are slowing down our core engineering console. In fact, we’re accelerating it, ”said Liz Hamren, head of Xbox’s experience and platform, during a video presentation.

“We are already working intensively on new hardware and platforms, some of which will not come to light for years. But even as we build for the future, we’re focused on extending the Xbox experience to more devices today so we can reach more people.

“And many of these devices will not be made by us. For example, we work with global TV manufacturers to embed the Game Pass experience directly into Internet-connected TVs, so all you need to play is a controller.

“In addition, we’re developing stand-alone streaming devices that you can plug into a TV or monitor, so if you have a strong Internet connection, you can stream your Xbox experience.”

In the same presentation, Microsoft said it was exploring the introduction of new subscription plans for the Xbox Game Pass to bring the service closer to a wider audience.

Microsoft has partnered with Samsung to bring Xbox cloud games to the electronics company’s 2020 products, and Spencer has previously hinted at plans to merge the Xbox Game Pass with TV streaming sticks.
