The absolutely beautiful and charming farming sim Stardew Valley has undoubtedly redefined and perfected the genre. Capturing the hearts of many around the world since its original release on PC in 2016, ConcernedApe has since continued to update the game for free, and its love, passion and dedication to the game has garnered attention and admiration everywhere.

We now know that the game sold an incredible 20 million copies in March 2022. Announced through the game’s website, 13 million of them are understandable on PC. Still, given the nature of the game, its relaxing routine gameplay and the deep but easy way to play it, it’s the perfect Switch game to sneak in for a session or two in the morning before work.

In September, the game reached sales of 15 million, meaning five million units were sold in just eight months. And that’s years after the game first came out.

ConcernedApe probably doesn’t need to do anything else with Stardew Valley at the moment – the number of free updates and an endless amount of content will keep us going for years. The developer is now working on a brand new game, Haunted Chocolatier, and has suggested that he no longer “plans” to update the farmer sim.
