Skanska is building a science lab building for the University of Virginia, USA, for about $ 70 million, about $ 650 million

ÖSTERSUND, Sweden, May 9, 2022 / PRNewswire / – Skanska signed a contract with Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University build a new undergraduate science lab building Blacksburg, Virginia, NOW. The contract is worth roughly $ 70 millionon SEK 650 millionwhich will be included in U.S. order bookings for the second quarter of 2022.

The four-story building, approximately 102,000 gross square feet (9,500 gross square feet) will provide a critical teaching laboratory and classroom space for support Virginia Tech’s a growing number of entries and vision Beyond Boundaries.

It will house nearly 30 wet, dry and special laboratories designed to be flexible and adaptable to current and future teaching needs for the College of Natural Sciences, the College of Engineering, the College of Natural Resources and Environment and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences . There will also be workspaces for assistant teachers, classrooms, collaboration areas, offices, informal study spaces and a 24-hour student space.

Construction will begin April 2022and completion is scheduled for April 2024.
