The New York Times reported that it has updated its response to Wordle 324 because of its connection to a significant news event.
“Some users may see an outdated response that seems closely related to a major recent news event,” the New York Times Games said in a statement Monday. “This is completely unintentional and a coincidence – today’s original answer was uploaded to Wordle last year.”
Players need to refresh their browsers to see the updated response.

Several Twitter users have noticed while some people have been getting “shine” in response to Wordle since Monday, others have been getting the “fetus” response.
Wordle’s original response came days after a leaked draft Supreme Court opinion suggesting judges could overturn a significant Roe abortion verdict against Wade.
The New York Times Games said they discovered “fetus” as a potential answer last week and are working to replace it with an updated answer for as many players as possible.
“We take our role as a place to have fun and escape seriously and want Wordle to stay separate from the news,” the company said in a statement. “But because of current Wordle technology, it can be difficult to change words that have already been loaded into the game.”
This is not the first time Wordle has presented a multi-answer daily puzzle. In March, the daily Wordle published the answers “stove” and “hari”. The New York Times updated the puzzle on the “stove” as part of an effort to remove “vague or potentially insensitive words.”
