There’s still no guarantee that Google will show the Pixel 6a or Pixel Watch on Google I / O this week, but hopefully we’ll get both. We need new hardware at this 2022 Delay Festival, and is there a better way to bring things to life than new Google devices?
Let’s say for a moment that Google want announce or at least show the Pixel 6a and Pixel Watch in the coming days – what are you most excited to find out about? Do you need a refreshed budget Pixel with the new design language first introduced with Pixel 6 which also runs Google Tensor or do you really just need to see Google’s first Pixel Watch?
I have a feeling most of you will say Pixel Watch (look!), Which is fair. Rumors about the Pixel 6a suggest a cheap phone that could be almost on par with the Pixel 6, but at a fraction of the price. That’s a big deal and all, but how many years have we been asking Google to make its own watch? Probably from the time of Android Weir when most of Google’s partners didn’t always impress us over and over again, and we thought only Google could do the right thing.
For me, it’s probably the Pixel Watch for the reasons I just went through. We’ve seen everyone else try Wear OS and it seems like most can’t do everything right. I don’t believe that Google is fully capable either (hello, endless problem with Pixel), but we have to see them try. The latest images of the watch have also caught our attention, and then some, as it seems that Google may have opted for a top-notch design, almost like a round Apple Watch.
I’m sure the Pixel 6a will be a solid mid-range, perhaps even the best mid-range. But middlemen don’t often steal headlines or hold our attention for long. Pixel Watch is a device that has been attracting our attention for years.
