Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra welcomed their little girl Malta Marie home for her mother’s weekend after spending more than 100 days in the neonatal intensive care unit.
The couple marked a turning point by sharing her first photo on social media on Sunday.
The cute picture shows Chopra (39) holding Malta Marie on her chest while Jonas (29) grabs her little hand.
The Quantico star and member of the Jonas Brothers said in a joint statement with the picture: “On this Mother’s Day, we can’t help but think about these last few months and the rollercoaster we’ve been to and now know, so many people have experienced it.”
They added: “After more than 100 days spent in the intensive care unit, our little girl is finally at home.”
Chopra and Jonas acknowledged that “every family’s journey is unique and requires a certain level of faith” and while their “challenging”, they retrospectively realized “how precious and perfect every moment is”.
“We are overjoyed that our little girl is finally home, and we just want to thank all the doctors, nurses and specialists at Rady Children’s La Jolla and Cedar Sinai, Los Angeles, who selflessly were there at every turn,” they concluded.
“Our next chapter starts now, and our baby is really dangerous. Let’s understand MM! Mom and Dad love you. ”
Chopra and Jonas then added their own customized message for Mother’s Day to the posts.
The “Matrix Resurrections” actress – who is a mother for the first time – said in a message to Jonas: “There is no one with whom I would rather do it than you. Thank you for making me a mom @nickjonas I love you ”.”
Meanwhile, the singer of “Jealous” said to his wife in his post: “Honey, you inspire me in every way, and you take on this new role with such ease and perseverance.”
“I am so grateful to be on this journey with you,” he added. “You are already an amazing mother. Happy Mother’s Day. I love you.”
Chopra and Jonas announced in January that they were “overjoyed” to have welcomed their first child through a surrogate.
The couple has been married for three years. They got married in 2018 in an extravagant three-day affair in India.
Since then, they have expressed a desire to become parents in many interviews.
In March 2020, Chopra told Tatler magazine, “It’s something I definitely want to do and I hope it happens whenever God wants it, at the right, right time.”
