Los Lobos concert raises money for Chicano Art Museum in Riverside – Redlands Daily Facts

Los Lobos rocked Riverside City Hall on Saturday night, May 7, as it raised money to support the Chicano Museum of Art, which is set to open next month in downtown Riverside.

The concert has benefited the Chicana Cheech Marin Center for the Arts and Culture, which will open on June 18 in a refurbished 61,420-square-foot building that once housed the city’s main public library.

The show was presented by Hot 103.9 and Katy 101.3, the statement said.

The center will feature nearly 500 paintings, drawings and sculptures donated by Marin, known for his role in the countercultural comedy duo Cheech & Chong that made millions laugh in the 1970s and 80s.

In late April, the center received its first work of art – a 26-foot-tall multi-section with LED backlight depicting the Aztec goddess of the earth commissioned for the museum.
