It’s been less than a week since Dave Chappelle a boom-rush at the Hollywood Bowl, and another comic has already been titled at the scene, apparently without incident … John Mulaney.
The favorite comedian took to the stage on Saturday night with several openings where Dave is was attacked by one guy just a few days ago – and, according to reports, everything went smoothly … which could have something to do with heightened high-alert security.
THRIt has a nice description of the guards at hand and vibrations in general – they say everyone had to go through metal detectors and check their bag, as usual.
Now the difference … the wooden board that used to be next to the front row and the stage has been replaced by a fence – and not only that, but apparently 10 security officers lined up the stage from the bottom next to the other guards who were on the second level and side also .

It might sound more intense than it actually was – although there were no phones allowed from the crowd, someone got a video of John leaving the stage with thunderous applause … giving us a great view of the front of the stage and the fence looking weak.
John even admitted it in his set – mocking HB insurance and the Chappelle incident in general … he reportedly said, “we have great insurance. This fence is so jumpy it’s crazy.”

Another reference to the crasher stage … John challenged the crowd (jokingly of course) by saying, “Nobody’s gonna do anything. You don’t have balls.” He kept talking about how great a party would be on stage no matter what someone was up to.
Its two openers, Earthquake and Seaton Smithalso referenced Isaiah Lee … but he seems to have kept it mild. In the end, everyone seemed to have a good time – and no one was hurt.
We are talking about 180!
