Jennifer Gray, who was previously engaged to Johnny Depp, is reacting to an ongoing, controversial defamation trial between the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star and ex-wife Amber Heard.
The star of “Dirty Dancing” (62) in his new book “From the Corner: Memoirs” – the title of which is a hint of the verse “Nobody puts a baby in a corner” from the 1987 film – recalls Depp, 58, as “madly jealous and paranoid, “Entertainment Tonight reports.
“All I can say about the trial is that it breaks my heart for everyone involved,” said Gray, whose one-year relationship with Depp began in 1999. “I just think it’s sad and I wish it had been resolved and I just wish everyone well.”
“We were young,” Gray recalled. “For me, this guy was the answer to my problems. This guy was cute, loving, romantic, crazy about me and beautiful. I desperately needed a recovery [from longtime love Matthew Broderick] into something that looked and felt like Johnny Depp from 1989.
“Trust me, it was a very soft landing,” she continued. “It simply came to our notice then. I was bleeding inside, and this guy saved me and just made me not feel what I was feeling. ”
Depp is suing Aquaman star Heard, 36, for $ 50 million over a 2018 Washington Post article in which she described herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”
Depp says his career and reputation have been the victims of a lawsuit – although not explicitly mentioned in the text, Heard issued a restraining order against him in 2016, after filing for divorce. Heard sued her ex-husband for $ 100 million.
