The NASCAR The Cup Series continued Sunday with the Goodyear 400 in South Carolina at Darlington Raceway.
Joey Logano has earned a pole position on the field, which also includes Cup Series leader Chase Elliott and 2021 Goodyear Champion Martin Truex Jr.
Here are the best moments so far away from Sunday on the famous race track known as “The Lady in Black”, where the paint schemes for the return were in full force.
The king is in the house
Richard Petty waved the green flag as an honorary starter. He won the Hall of Fame in Darlington three times in his great career.
Keselowski turns
It was a year of ups and downs for Brad Keselowski, and Sunday was no different. He sailed well until Elliott might have hit him in the back. Keselowski stepped away from the pack before coming into contact with the inner wall and trailing far away.
Kyle carousel
Kyle Larson was fighting for victory in the first stage when he got away with trying to keep up with Kyle Busch.
One phase below
Busch led most of the way, but not much. Logano took the lead in the 80th lap, while Ross Chastain soon moved to second place.
Logano achieved his first stage victory of the season, and also his first in Darlington. He was followed by Chastain, Christopher Bell and Busch.
Larson, get out
The hard day continued for Larson, whose car lacked power and in the end was not ready to continue. The superstar bowed in the middle of the second phase.
Bad Brad
Keselowski slammed into the outer wall again. This time he collided with Busch and the damage ended the day for both runners.
Chastain leads the chase
After finishing close behind Logan in the first phase, Chastain takes over the second.
Fire report
The flames on top of BJ McLeod’s car are beautiful. The ones below them? Not so much.
Alex Bowman can connect.
From first to worst
Chastain raced like the others during the two stages. His bid to win was interrupted in the final stage. While fighting for the lead, he ran into Denny Hamlin and lost control of his car. Count Chastain among those who did not finish.
