Ford could have very bad news for Rivian

The first quarter was very difficult for Rivian (RIVN) – Get Report Rivian Automotive, Inc. class A and its shareholders.

The latter saw the value of their stake melt as the shares of this newly formed company fell amid investor concerns about its ability to cope with rising production rates, a PR crisis caused by clumsiness associated with rising vehicle prices. Added to this are disruptions in supply chains and rising raw material prices. In the end, the bill is steep for investors.

In early March, the company said the Normal, Ill. Plant has a capacity to produce 50,000 vehicles in 2022, but due to supply chain difficulties, Rivian will produce only half of that number – 25,000.
