Dr. Strange 2 Star Elizabeth Olsen teased that she could return to MCU, despite the violent exit of her character Wanda Maximoff in the new film.
During the interview with Colliderthe actress hinted that it was Dr. Strange the sequel may not be the last we see of Wanda Maximoff (though it could be the end of Scarlet Witch’s darker alter ego).
“I sign overtime every time they want me to make a movie,” she said of her contract with Marvel. “I just signed a very short one at the beginning, so everything is always just, it always adapts to me. Not. I don’t think of this as the end either. “
“I don’t know in what capacity I will return,” she added, seemingly trying not to reveal too much about the film. “I don’t know how to do it without, I don’t want spoilers.”
Dr. Strange in Multiverse of Madness plays Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, called the Scarlet Witch – a powerful sorceress who was last seen in Wandavisionand the role of antagonist in the new film Doctor Strange.
While Dr. Strange’s sequel hints at the end for the former heroine, it looks like she may still be back.
After spending the entire film trying to reconnect with her sons Billy and Tommy, she changed her mind and realized the evil she had done with the help of Darkhold – an ancient, sinister text she found at the end of Wandavision.
She seems to be sacrificing herself to destroy all copies of the book throughout the multiverse, burying herself and Mount Wundagore in the process.
But if Olsen has his way, it won’t be the end. Olsen seems to want to team up with some famous heroes from another franchise.
“Someone just said,‘ Since you’re bringing X-Men, Wanda is part of the X-Men franchise. Why can’t Wanda be there too? ‘ In my mind I am like, ‘Yes. Why can’t Wanda be with the X-Men? ‘
“I have no idea. I don’t know what I want. I know I want it to be important. There’s no reason to keep telling these stories unless they’re really strong, good stories and add something to the whole MCU. I’ll be there if there’s a great idea.”
Whether Wanda Maximoff will return or not remains to be seen. However, even if he does, it probably won’t be for a while. After all, Marvel’s upcoming paper is already pretty packedand without the obvious film in the cameo, we may have to wait for the X-Men to return before Wanda reappears.
Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, with Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch. They are joined by Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams and Xochitl Gomez. Raimi himself directed the film based on a screenplay by Michael Waldron, based on characters created by comic book legends Steve Ditko and Stan Lee.
We gave the film a 7/10 rating, saying it was “Sam Raimi’s film from top to bottom, for better or for worse”.
