About the Competition

Every spring, members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsor a state art competition in high school as an opportunity to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the country as well as in our congressional district. The congressional art competition was founded in 1982, and over the years hundreds of thousands of high school students have participated. One winner is selected from each participating district, and the winner’s artwork is then sent to Washington, DC for display at the U.S. Capitol.
