The Mavericks have issued a statement acknowledging that an incident involving the family of Suns’ Spitz Chris Paul occurred during a fourth game at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Sunday.
In a statement delivered to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the team announced that there was an incident between the fans and Paul’s family. The fan was “quickly” removed from the game, according to the release.
“The Dallas Mavericks are aware of the incident between fans and Chris Paul’s family. This was unacceptable behavior and will not be tolerated. The Mavericks, along with the American Airlines Center, quickly removed the fans from today’s game. “
News of the incident first came from Paul himself, who sent it passionate tweet after the Phoenix defeat 111–101. The Suns quarterback, who was knocked out of the game by 8:58 by the end of the fourth quarter, reportedly spoke to security staff near the team bench about the treatment his family had in the stands

Post-match report from McMenamin he pointed out that Paul’s mother, who was in a hurry on Sunday, was put on her by Dallas fans. Paul’s wife was also reportedly pushed and followed along the aisle as she left her seat behind the Suns bench.
Paul’s children reportedly witnessed the whole incident and the whole group “felt very insecure,” according to McMenamin.
The NBA has not released a statement regarding Sunday’s incident.
